Tadpoles Group
The Tadpoles group is designed to develop the fundamentals in all four strokes. The focus is to develop proper stroke technique, as well as basic starts and turns. Instruction also includes an introduction to the principles of competition.
The goal at this stage is to develop the necessary skills to attend proper developmental meets and get ready to transition to the next level.
To join Tadpoles, prospective swimmers must try out, and be able to swim the length of the pool in freestyle and backstroke utilizing basic technique in both strokes. For freestyle, swimmers must know how to breathe properly (side breathing). Minimum age: 6 1/2 years old.
Children participating in this group are expected to attend at least two of the three practices a week. The frequency of attendance is crucial to the development and retention of skills at this age. As in school, lack of consistent attendance will be detrimental to the learning process of the young swimmer.
