Miami Swimming Proper Return Protocols
In order to ensure the safest return to practice, all coaches and athletes will adhere to the following procedures:
• Enter the facility through the southwest entrance and exit through the northwest gates.
• All athletes must wear masks when entering and leaving the facility and campus.
• Athletes may not enter/leave the Aquatic Center together ensuring 6 feet separation at all times.
• Swimmers temperature will be taken upon entering the facility.
• Once on the deck, athletes will immediately drop off their bags on the bleachers at a distance of 10 feet between other athletes and enter the pool.
• Each athlete will be responsible for bringing their own equipment to practice.
• No equipment will be allowed to be used from the facility.
• Equipment may not be stored at the Aquatic Center.
• No sharing of equipment of any kind including kickboards.
• All lane lines will be set up to ensure proper distancing.
• Social distancing will be strictly enforced while in the pool.
o 1 person on the wall per lane at a time.
o Siblings will be allowed to share a lane on the same side.
o If a lane has multiple members (siblings) on the wall in one lane, the next lane over will have the athlete wait out by the flags (5 yards away from the wall).
o Future possible lane configurations will allow for multiple members staggered throughout the lane.
• Only coaches and participating athletes allowed in the Aquatic Center.
• No parents allowed on the deck. Parents must wait in their cars while at school.
• Parents MUST remain on campus in their cars if inclement weather is around.
• Adjustment to practice times may be required to ensure all safety guidelines and protocols.
• No showering or changing at the pool.
• Locker Rooms and bathrooms will be closed and will only be used for emergencies.
• Coaches will walk swimmers out of the Aquatic Center and ensure social distancing during pick up.
• Proper cleaning of the Aquatic Center will take place after each practice session.
• Coaches and Athletes will adhere to all additional protocols set forth by the school.
All coaches will need to adhere to the following:
• Wear mask or face coverings while on the deck.
• Do not make physical contact with others, such as shaking hands or giving a high five.
• Avoid touching your face.
• Maintain appropriate social distancing from other coaches and athletes.
• Wash your hands thoroughly or use a hand sanitizer after leaving the pool.
• Do not use the bathroom or locker room.
• Proper cleaning and wiping down of areas including bathrooms to be repeated during each day.
• No congregation after practice.
All athletes (swimmers and water polo players) will need to adhere to the following:
• No sharing of equipment.
• Bring a full water bottle with your name clearly written on the bottle.
• Arrive as close as possible to your practice start time (5 minutes early).
• Avoid touching gates, benches, etc.
• Follow directions for spacing and stay at least six feet apart from others.
• Do not make physical contact with others, such as shaking hands or giving a high five.
• Avoid touching your face.
• Maintain appropriate social distancing from other athletes when taking a break.
• Wear your suit to and from practice.
• Leave the facility as soon as reasonably possible after practice.
• Wash your hands thoroughly or use a hand sanitizer after leaving the pool.
• Do not use the locker room.
• No congregation after practice.
